Frequently Asked Questions

A static line is a tensioned stainless-steel cable connecting two end stanchions and, depending on the length, a series of intermediates, allowing workers to travel continuously across a roof while remaining connected to the fall arrest system at all times. They can be configured with corners to ensure a consistent edge distance.

Individual anchor points require workers to disconnect and reconnect each time they move past an anchor, while a static line provides continuous connection — significantly reducing the risk of an unprotected moment.

Static line systems must comply with AS/NZS 1891.2 for horizontal static line design and installation, and AS/NZS 1891.4 for the selection, use, and maintenance of fall arrest systems.

Static line systems require inspection and recertification every 12 months by a qualified competent person, plus regular pre-use visual checks by users before accessing the roof.

Static lines are suitable for a wide range of roof profiles, including Colorbond, membrane, and concrete — our surface-mount technology means installation without requiring additional structural steel in most cases.

Standard single-span static lines are typically rated for one – two person(s). Multi-span systems can accommodate more workers, but system design and load ratings must account for the number of simultaneous users.
